Pros: Evertying about this place was great.
Cons: No cons on this visit

This is a small Chinese restaurant located on Mountain Rd. The specialize in Szechwan style food. It is easily over looked by people passing though because of the shear volume of restaurants on Mountain Rd.

This place provides a dimly lit, cozy, relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Its a pleasure to dine at Hose of Lam. They can be very busy at times, particularly for their noon hour buffet. The buffet is the smallest I have seen but rest assured, what they lack in size they make up for in excellence of quality.

The service here is excellent. you are always seated quickly and the waitress attends to your need throughout your stay.

The order are taken and prepared promptly Though I enjoy the buffet I am writing this review on a Szechwan chicken dish that I ordered late one evening. I believe it was hot orange chicken, the exact name escapes me. This dish was amazing. Everything on the plate tasted great. Even the rice has its own unique flavour which makes it stand out from rice served at other Chinese restaurants. The chicken was lightly battered and smothered in the orange sauce. Thought it was hot orange chicken the spices where not over used. There was some heat but not enough to make your eyes water and cause uncontrollable sweats. No one wants that experience when they go out for supper.

The price range on their menu varies greatly depending on what you order. As with most Chinese Restaurants they provide some "combination" plates, all of which are excellent. They are around the $10 range. The more traditional Chinese/Szechwan dishes range from approximately $12- $20 and are well worth the price.

Tip: I am not certain but I am very confident that this restaurant DOES NOT USE MSG. There are some Chinese places that I now avoid due to the heavy use of MSG. For my self and many people MSG can cause some un desired after effect. The most mild being an unquenchable thirst.
