Pros: Great food and service!
Cons: No dessert with the buffet...

After preparing mentally and gastronomically it was time for a feast. It was time for a BUFFET! For lunch one Friday we decided that Maverick's would be our target. This was my first ever visit to Mavericks so I do not know what the old location was all about.

The new location is just off Mapleton Rd. in the new Future Inn. On entering you notice right away that the place is clean, fresh, welcoming. The place size divided into sections to give it a cozy feel.

The waitress seated up near the buffet and told us that if we wanted the buffet we could help our selves. There was no need to ask twice, we came for the buffet so forget the menus!

There were 2 choices for the buffet. The soup & sandwich buffet for $7.99, or the full buffet for $12.99. Needless to say I went for the full meal deal.

I tried absolutely everything in the buffet, how could I resist? I started with the soup and salad with a sandwich. For myself, I felt that the soup was excellent and worthy of special mention. The one I tries was the tomato basil. Moving on to the hot dishes there was a nice array of dishes including pasta's, vegetable dishes, rice, potatoes, chicken, beef cubes and freshly cut roast beef. Though I enjoyed everything I tried in the buffet (It was all really good) there was nothing that stood out as outstanding. I would like to be able to recommend an item or two as must tries but there are none that were above the rest.

J.W. decided it was time for desert. This is where I was a little put out. There was no desert offered with the buffet, not even a small bowl of ice cream or Jell-O. I am a firm believer that every buffet should include a sweet to top off the meal. If that little treat is not sufficient then your free to order from a desert menu. However, if you have a sweet tooth at Mavericks you have to go with the regular desert menu. I personally skipped the desert.

As for the service, I was very please. The waitress was friendly and joked with us. The servers at the buffet were mind readers... they always knew what I wanted. But then again I suspect they knew I was going to try everything and they simply used process of elimination! I was very pleased with the food. At $12.99 most buffets would be over priced but not this one. However, they should include something sweet. The atmosphere was pleasant and quite and added the final touch to a pleasant dining experience.
