Pros: Service! Some of the best service in Moncton!
Cons: Over cooked food... the only things worse would have been burnt food.

I visited Kramer's with JW and his girlfriend one Sunday evening. On this day the place was far from busy. There were people seated at only one other table when we entered and only 1 other table came and left during out stay.

Kramer's is a tiny pub style restaurant located in Main St. They provide a small relaxed environment with a cozy feel. I really like the setting.

The service here was absolutely fantastic. The server was always checking in to see if things were ok. Only 2 things come to mind for slight negatives about the service. Firstly, I was not informed from the start the there would be no all-you-can-eat fish and chips, which I found out when I ordered it, and when JW asked for more Tartar sauce he received more ketchup. Now let's be honest, who orders more tartar sauce anyway??

I ended up trying the coconut shrimp and the fish and chips for my Sunday night supper. The shrimp came out quickly and where extremely hot. I had to let them cool a bit before digging in. These shrimp there served with an apricot sauce. I must say that one of the things I enjoy about coconut shrimp is that every restaurant makes it their own with a unique sauce. This is the first time for apricot sauce for my self. These shrimp were really good. I enjoyed the sauce very much though its not my favorite. I did notice however that the shrimp where tough and over cooked. Over cooking sea food is never good as it does influence the flavor. Next the fish and chips arrived. I had ordered the large which I assumed was 3 pieces but I was served a 4 piece. The price was $8.99, $1.00 more than the 3 piece. Price wise the portions were on par with the rest of Moncton. I started with the fries, they were very hot and crispy but they were very tasteless. Oh well, salt and ketchup fixes that. The fish is the all important part and unfortunately it did not make the cut in my opinion. It was supposed to be haddock and I am not convinced that it was. It did not taste like cod though. The fish was not an English style batter but rather a dusted style. My preference is English. The fish it self was dry and over cooked just like the shrimp. Again there was not much in way of flavor. This fish was definitely in need of ketchup and or tartar sauce.

Over all I am only going to give Kramer's 3.25/5. The excellent service is what actually saves them from dipping lower in the ranks. Next time I attend I will be ordering something other than fish and chips!
