Pros: Very friendly staff, door person on duty greeting customers, nice backgroud music
Cons: Somewhat cozy atmosphere, jazzy but no pizzaz--bland. No creativity to appearance of tables at all.

My guest had a caesar salad as an app.; dressing very bland and thin, didn't detect bacon bits at all. As a main dish, baked manacotti stuffed with 'ground' chicken with a blend of too much spices. There were two of them in a lasagna dish covered with cheese. Poor presentation as well. My dish was fettucini alfredo. Noodles 'way' overcooked; some of the noodles were even stuck together which I put on the side of my plate. Again the sauce was too thin, bland tasting and no body/richness.

Home made bread was brought to the table with a 'spicy' tomato sauce for dipping, a nice gesture to start the meal anyways.

Service was not the greatest. The writer of this review would not return to this establishment.

Pros: A 'down home' kinda' place. Family run. Nothing really fancy but clean and pleasant.
Cons: little small, & music while dining would be nice. Improve on place settings appearance.

The 'long employed' waitress is a great talker & very pleasant. The owner, with his little sun visor cap on, will come out of the kitchen once in a while & view what's happening. They take most credit cards & debit. A great take-out following as well. A great choice of fish, haddock, halibut, perch, cod, & pollock. Speacials through out the week as well. Close at 8 most evening; open Sundays as well. The place settings are a little 'drab' looking. A piece of leaf lettuce with a slice of tomato on top would make a huge improvement. They also make their own coleslaw whick is quite nice. I visit them about once every 2 to 3 weeks. I'll keep on returning.

Pros: The portions of food were were good and filled the plate. Poor presentation on plate, however.
Cons: The managemnet!!! Very poorly supervised establishment by the owner, if you can believe it?!!

My wife and I visited this establishment at 10am on a Sunday morning. We were on a weekend excurtion at Blue Mountain. About 15 to 20 patrons in the restaruant. Once seated, our first 'take' was on the staff's appearance; black T-shirts hanging out of their pants, a towel, used we guessed for wiping the tables, tucked into the pant belt at the back of their pants!!!

A cook was leaning on the set-up table in the kitchen because it wasn't busy, then another cook a few minutes later joined in the 'rest' as well in the same position. All this in view of the entire restaurant.

On all the tables were Christmas type salt and pepper shakers that looked as though they hadn't been washed since they had been taken from the original packaging upon opening.

We ordered our food. Here's the complaint here. The homefries which came with both meals were, for the most part, over cooked, dark brown, and hard. However, some larger ones were not even cooked. Some, not many, were done the way you'd expect them to be done in a restaurant. We did not have any quality check during our meal at all. We did get a coffee refill but it wasn't our waitress that asked us for a top-up. I asked for milk with my coffee, got cream!! Where are their heads, really???

When our waitress came to clear our plates we showed her the 'overdone' homefries that we had put aside on our plates. I made a comment to her that the cooks should not have put these on our plates to begin with. I didn't mention to the waitress that it was also her job to do a quality check on the plates containing the food before she served it and parhaps should have sent it back to the kitchen before she served the meals. She said she'd, "Get the manager."

NOW GET THIS~~~!!!! Within a couple of minutes, we hear a man with a VERY raised voice, coming towards our area saying, "Who wants to teach me a lesson, who wants to teach me something this morning?" He walked down the wrong isle and said to the wrong table, "Do YOU want to teach me a lesson this morning?" They of course didn't know what he was talking about. He finally arrived at our table and asked us what OUR problem was.

We told him that we would have thought he would be somewhat more discreet about the matter when approaching the table and that he would appreciate our constructive criticism. He wouldn't have anything to do with it, period! He told us, in so many words, that some people like them hard, some people like them soft, and some people like them overdone and if we wanted to be more selective with our food, we could visit the restaurant 3-4 doors down the street. CAN YOU IMAGINE??? And this is the owner of the establishment, so he informed us as well.

I asked him why he would want us to do that??? Surely if I were a restauranteur, I would want every customer I could get and then some not to mention trying to keep the ones like us who bring things like what I've mentioned here to their attentiion so that it won't happen again.

Needless to say, not only will we not return to this poorly run establishment again but we'll tell everyone that we can about our sad experience. My wife picked up the pair of salt and pepper shakers, handed them to him and said, "Here, have one of your cooks who looks as though they have nothing to do, give these a good cleaning, they're filthy!" He took them. He also cost his waitress a tip by his actions.

What a 'goof ball!'

REMEMBER~~~~ THE SUNSET GRILL ~~~~ Blue Mountain Collingwood.
