Pros: none
Cons: none

The definition of mediocrity.

Nothing was particularly good about this place. You go in and its a diner type restaurant as most Big Stop's are. The place looks a bit dull and drab but its a truck stop, can't really expect more.

The service was just ok. Perhaps a bit on the slow side but not terribly. The service would have been better had the servers paid the same attention to all patrons as they do the people they know or those who visit regularly. This would be a great example of bad good service. Bad for the stragers, good for the locals.

I ordered the fish and chips. The 2 piece was about 9.95. Being a big stop I was expecting a large order but I was a bit dissapointed when it arrived. The 2 pieces of fish where a bit smallish and the plate was piled with fries. For the price they should have thrown in the third piece. As for the quality of the food there is not much to say. It was just an average meal. It could have been better, should have been better for the price. Next time i want fish and chips in Truro I may stop at Delux.

Pros: Thsi place was Clean!
Cons: No cons...

I visited BK in Truro around 6pm on a weekday and they were not busy at all. I was surprised at that. Regardless the service was a bit slow to react to a customer entering but when they did they promtly took my order and prepared it. The burger was great but the fries where not piping hot. You could tell they sat for a bit too long in teh warmer because the nice crisp texture was lost to the warming bins moitsure. Perhaps its because no one eats here, but they were a very clean restaurant!

Pros: Sorry but pros are reserved only for the deserving.
Cons: The food was just terrible

OH MY GOD!! I will never again go to another Pizza Delight. This is the second disaterous visit and its a mistake that my stomach can not take again.

It was around 6:00 one fine weekday evening when I had a hankering for some Pizza. Since I don't know my way around Truro I stuck to what was available on Robie St. That woudl be Pizza Delight.

On entering I noticed the joint was rather empty for any night. I think there was 3 other people in there. I was greeted somwhat quickly and seated. To save time, because I had a 2 hour drive ahead of me, I decided to take the buffet.

I could see from my table there were 3 pizzas on the heater that were almost untouched. I figured they where freshly done so I decided to take a few minutes to toast some bread befor lunging for the pizza. One lady working there, possibly the manager?, decided to give me a lecture on how to toast bread properly on the grill befor I started because appaently the patrons of this establishment are not smart enough know how to toiast bread on a grill. Moving on, I went for my Pizza and loaded up with some garlic fingers as well. The garlic finger were not bad. Greasy but not bad. Then I moved on to the pizza. It was far from fresh. I am sure it was sitting there for about 3 hours. Perhaps they only had it there for decoration and any sucker daring enough to try it. Well, it was on my plate now and there was nothing else to try so I slowly ate it. It was a tastless grease soaked floppy sponge like cut out that barely passed for pizza. I was very dissapointed. Looking up there was still 1/2 of the pizza still there and another table just entered looking for the buffet also. Not wanting more I asked when the next pizza was comming out. They were not even starting one yet. I tolde the waitress I did not want anymore of what was there because it was no good so she went back to have another pizza prepared. Great.... no time savings here, I could have just ordered a custom pizza and been done by now.

Well, after a painfull 15 minute wait the next pizza was sent out. It looked great. I grabbed a few slices and went back to my table. Immidiatly I noticed the grease. It was litterally dripping with grease. Still hungry I ate the pizza. Well, almost ate the pizza. I could not do it. The grease became overwhelming and I felt nauseated I had to stop and that was it. I flagged a waitress who was chatting with a friend or regular and requested the check and left.

I have been to Pizza Delight 2 times in 3 years and both have been disgusting. Never again will I eat at Pizza Delight.

A bit below average, a far cry from other reviews, Nov 1, 2010

Pros: The hush puppies. Try them if you must visit.
Cons: Over priced considering the lacking food quality

I hate to admit this but I visited this restaurant based on some Google reviews. I now have a reason to not use Google reviews.

The restaurant did not require reservations on a Friday night which should have been my red flag to go some place else! In Ottawa on a Friday night most average restaurants are full and most above average restraints need a reservation to avoid the 1 hour line ups.

Regardless, we (a group of 6) decided to visit. On arrival we all noted the lack of people dining there that night. We also note shortly after sitting that it was cold in side. A comfortable temperature goes a long way to help with an enjoyable dining experience.

The service as a whole was very slow. The waiter also forgot simple things like putting salt and pepper on the table, brining ketchup, etc.

This restaurant boasts that it is Ottawa’s only smoke house. Honestly, Ottawa still does not have a smoke house. When you make a claim like that your food had better have a good smoked flavour that is not totally masked by the barbeque sauce.

Personally, I ordered the ribs. They were tender, not juicy (actually a bit dry), not very smoky, not very saucy and actually a bit on the bland side. I was not impressed. The side dishes where very tasty. I had the hush puppies and the glazed veggies. Both were excellent.

My mother ordered the fish and chips. I tried a piece to see what it was like, as did my father. The fish was not haddock as advertised, it was cod fish. The fish was not fresh and thus it was dry and tough to eat. I will never understand how any self respecting chef can substitute cod for haddock and how most people never see the difference. The flavours are as different as knight and day.

My uncle ordered a medium rare stake that was prepared well… well done that is.

My lasting impression was overpriced mediocre food.

Pros: None....
Cons: Food and service

Well, let me start by saying that this was the first time I have ever sent a meal back to the kitchen. I am usually very tolerable but this was just dreadful.

On to the review…

So, it was a weekend and the power failed at home and we had not yet eaten supper. So, we decided it was a good night to have a meal out and then go to a movie. So, we left home around 5:45 and got to Montana’s around 6:00. My wife was not too hungry, she just ordered a bowl of soup. I ordered a burger and fries… quick and easy so that we would catch our movie. Oh, we ordered around 6:10.

Around 7:00 our food arrived at the table. Considering what we ordered and that the restaurant was half empty this was an exceptionally long time. So, I was already a bit annoyed. Then I sampled the fries… have you ever eaten a day old fry? They are characteristically waxy and stale with no crispness at all. It like eating rubber. Well, my entire plate of fries was like that. I though to myself, it ok, I will just drown them in ketchup. Then I took a bit out of the burger. I immediately noticed the bun was crunchy and though “when did they start toasting the buns”. Then I quickly realized the bun was not toasted, it was stale. I told my wife how stale it was and then I knocked on the bun and she could hear the knocking across the table. They could have just slapped the patty between 2 hockey pucks and had the same result. At this point I was very angry. I pushed my plate away and waiting for a server to get near so that I could ask for the manager. When the manager arrived he asked what the trouble was and I explained and told him that I would not be paying and I would be leaving right away. He offered me the opportunity to pick something else off the menu but I refused and told him I was not giving them a second chance because they messed up the entire meal after taking almost an hour so prepare a burger and fries. I told him I was going to go to McDonald’s for a burger so that could get to my movie. That’s exactly what I did. By the way, my wife’s soup ok but just so you know, she paid $6.99 for about 1 cup of soup. That very expensive but then again we did not pay for the soup either.

To sum up: Bad food, Bad service, eat some place else.
