Pros: Service
Cons: none

I have left my previous review below because this one is a polar opposite of the last few visits I had at this Wendy’s location.

On entering I noticed that there was a short line with about 5-6 order taken and waiting to be filled. Much to my surprise these orders where getting picked off one by one is very short order. With only 3 people in front of me I was still surprised to have me order taken in under 2 minutes and absolutely shocked when it was served up in under a minute after placing the order. Now this is how fast food is supposed to work. Everyone in the back was in their position doing their job and working as one unit. This is in sharp contrast with pervious visits where the kitchen appeared to be in chaos.

I took my food and went to eat. Starting with the fries I noticed that they where not as crisp as they should be considering the volume of orders running through. After only being seated a few minutes I saw a guy coming around with a basket of mints asking people how everything was…I thought that was very odd. When he made it over to me I told him everything was good but the fries could be better. He offered to fetch me a new batch. I declined because I was in a hurry and the present ones, thought not crisp, where sufficient. After a brief conversation I learned that this guy was the manager! I was shocked. I let him know what my prior experience was and complimented him on the improvements. I hope that they can keep p the good work because this was one of the very best services I have ever had.

Because of the service I have boosted value to a must buy. The atmosphere and food where typical. I suspect the food will only get better at this location because the manager is actively involved.

========================================== As a Wendy's the food was as you would expect. It was not great just average. The restaurant it self is clean and nice. It provide a relaxing place to eat your meal.

The service on the other hand is dreadfull. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get our order because the staff had no clue how to operate the restaurant. There was about 6 people waiting for orders and another 2 tables comming back for corrections to thier orders. They could not get an order right if thier lives depended on it.

If you want "fast" food this is not your place.

Pros: The food
Cons: A bit crowded as the tables are packed in tightly.

Little Turkish Village is a cozy restaurant located in Orleans. It is the only Turkish restaurant in the Orleans area and only 1 of 2 Turkish restaurants in the Ottawa Region. The dining room is slightly crowded and dimly lit. There is Turkish/Mediterranean music playing softly in the background. The décor give the restaurant a unique flare setting the Turkish tone.

This was not my first visit to Little Turkish Village. I have been there 3 or 4 times prior. As usual the service was very fast. On entering we were seated and served water and bread and then asked for drink orders. We ordered an appetizer while trying to decide on what to eat. There was 4 of us there and we decided to go for the dinner for 3. Knowing the portion sizes we were well aware that dinner for 3 would suffice.

Our appetizer was a dish of hummus to go with out pita bread. The hummus was very smooth and tasty. I do like mine spicier but nevertheless it was really good. The dinner for 3 starts off with a Turkish salad. This is basically a large salad for everyone to share. There is a variety of salads combined on the plate and all are excellent. After the Turkish salad is done the main course arrives. This is a tray with rice and potatoes surrounding a foil dome with 9 kabobs sticking it and a sparkler sparkling in the centre. Every dish is like a celebration. I do not recall the Turkish names for the Kabobs but there was shrimp, chicken, lamb, beef, and ground meat. Each one is tender, very flavourful, and cooked to perfection. My favourite is the ground meat because the flavour is very unique and very intense. We did have desert but nothing unusual, just a chocolate mousse cake.

When the meal was done our check was brought promptly to the table. We paid and where on our way. For a group of 4 we were there just slightly over an hour total which is a testament to the quality of service. I suspect this place depends on very fast efficient service to keep the customers from building up at the door. Every time I have been there the restaurant is either full or near full. It is clearly enjoyed by all who visit.

Pros: The fish and chips!
Cons: There are not really any con's

Kelsey's Restaurant is a chain establishment which is a set up as a bar and grill. I have eaten here several times and I have not been disappointed yet. The food is always great.

On this occasion I visited around 7 pm with some friends. As always we were promptly seated and drink orders taken, we all took just water and it was immediately brought over. In general the service is typically fast here and very good though not outstanding.

I ordered the fish and chips. I think the price was around $13-$14 for a 2 piece order which is on the high side. I am from the east coast and down there a 2 piece would not run more than about $10. However, the resulting order was quite large and very filling so I would say the value for money is very good. One thing I really enjoy is when a restaurant takes something very standard and puts a unique twist on it. Kelsey’s has done just that. Their batter on the fish is perhaps one of the best there is. I absolutely love this fish batter. Taking things a step further, they also have a fantastic coleslaw. It’s a vinegar style but has a touch of sugar it kill the bitterness. Again an excellent slaw and one of my favourites. There is not much to say about the fries. They are crisp, hot, and tasty just like fries where meant to be.

The atmosphere here is typical of a chain bar and grill. Nothing fancy but gets the job done. I find the lay out is a bit cramped and give a slight claustrophobic feel but many would just call it cozy.

Over all Kelsey’s is a great place to get a great mean. Give them a try.

Stephen

Pros: Nothing stood out.
Cons: Hmmm... service was slow.

Eastside Mario’s, another chain restaurant which I find to be very inconsistent from one to the other. They can range from dreadful to outstanding. The one in Orleans ranks pretty much in the middle of the pack. The food is typical of any Mario’s but the service was slow, really slow. My first glass of water actually had a seed of something in the bottom of the glass… no I did not have a lemon wedge. I sent it back and had to ask 2 times to get my second glass. When we were done and ready to go I was starting to think the meal was on the house because they had no intention on bringing us the check. Overall, the service was not good, the food was well, typical, and the atmosphere was nothing pleasant which leads to not great value for money.

If you like Mario’s find a better one than this.

Pros: No Cons!
Cons: No Cons!

On a chilly Friday evening my wife and I headed out to Boston Pizza. We arrived there at around 5:15-5:20. The parking lot was busy but not full. We parked and casually walked into the restaurant. At the front door was several servers and one whisked us away immediately to be seated. Its nice to not have to wait for the server to review a seating chart to figure out where to place each group.

Promptly after being seated we received our menu’s and ordered water right away. When the water returned we were asked if we were ready to order. We replied not yet and the waitress asked if we would like to order an appetizer. We did order the calamari. Very soon there after the calamari arrived at which time we placed our order for the main course. I ordered the Mama Meata Penne with a starter Caesar with Mozza and bacon added.

The calamari was deep fried to perfection. Light crispy golden brown and still tender to bite. When it was gone there was just a feeling that there should be more because it was so good. The Caesar salad was also a delight. I know… a salad being a delight is just not right! This was perhaps the best Caesar I have ever had in a restaurant. They used just the right amount of dressing and topped it with real bacon chunks, not that simulated stuff that you shake out of a can. Two for two, I was looking forward to the main course now. Only about a minute after the salad was gone the main course arrived. For my self it was a large bowl of Mama Meata Penne with 2 large garlic breads one on each side. The first thing you should notice is that the topping are there… not hidden beneath the pasta because they are tiny and almost non existent. This pasta was loaded with Spicy sausage, quarter chunk of meat balls, and oh yes my favourite, pepperonis. Half way though this delicious meal I was stuffed but I could not stop eating. Now that’s a true sign that something was just right.

Not long after finishing the meal our waitress was back to take our plates and bring the check. She promptly took payment and we went on our way.

I must say that the service provided by Mandy V. was absolutely outstanding. I am sure this girl deserves a raise. She was courteous, polite, attentive, and fast. She definitely went above and beyond. Water glasses were kept full, she checked in with each course to make sure everything was good and she was fast and efficient. Great job Mandy.

The atmosphere was typical of that found in every Boston Pizza. Are you surprised? What makes this one stand out are that the place was very clean, the background music was not so loud as to force patrons to talk over it to hear each other and over all it was just a comfortable feel.

This Boston Pizza earns a 5/5 from me at http://www.CanadaFoodCritic.com. Try you local Boston Pizza and swing by the site to write your review. SR
