Pros: Hmmm... none
Cons: Terrible service. Moncton has a nice slow food industry.

I have returned to McDonalds on Mountain Rd. for a second visit. This time it was March break so the huge noon hour flux of teens was not there. Surprisingly though, they were still very busy. Even more surprisingly I was served and had my food in about 4 minutes. As always the fries where hot and crisp and my wannabe whopper was great. For this visit I am boosting the rating to 3/5. The service was still slow considering the number of people in line… almost none!

===================================== This McDonalds is located on Mountain Rd.'s fast food strip. With lots of competition for customers you woudl expect outstanding service and steallr food. Well, you woud be WRONG!! I arrived at 12:20 and there was 20-30 people in line... if you can call it a line. The part that blows my mind is that there was only a hand full of people seated and eating. I knew right away that this was gonna be a long wait. Well, being the impatient jerk that I like to be I manage to cut line and sneak to front whille a group of high school girls were chatting up a storm. HAHA suckers. Regardless It took 5-6 minutes for me to oreder and get my food. In my book, that not brutally terrible but its far from good. To top it off, I CUT LINE!!! If I stood there and waited I would have been another 10 - 15 minutes easily because when I was done eating and rolling out the door those girls had still not placed thier orders! To sum up the service, DREADFULL As for the food I ordered the Mcdonalds Whopper.... yeah thats right I said it. The Mcdonalds whopper. Its actually a fantastic burger. I order it exclusivly at McDonalds. My only beef is that when they first introduced it they called it the BIG XTRA, and BIG it was. Now its a piddly little crumb called the Mc. Xtra. So, the reality is.... this burger is a Jr. Whopper!! Anyways, the burger was great, the fries where piping hot, salted just right and over all I enjoyed the food. True to my belief that in teh fast food industry SERVICE IS KING, I can only give these guys a 2/5. thats 2 for the food and 0 for the service.

Pros: Great service, great food!
Cons: None

This review is based on my experience with Wedgewood Hall from almost a year ago. I would not typically write a review after more than a month has passed but in this case I will. After you read the review you will understand why.

My experience with Wedgewood Hall was for my Wedding. As far as I know, Wedgewood Hall offers the most comprehensive wedding service in Moncton with respect to the reception. You of course have the option to pick and choose what parts you want them to do and what parts you are willing to do yourself.

The Wedgewood Hall staff did an outstanding job preparing the Hall for our Wedding. We left most of the details in the capable hands of the staff. They set up the hall, organized the evenings events with us, ordered the wine, delivered a great wine service, prepared and served a fantastic meal, and cleaned up the following day. The only thing that we opted to do was to buy a slab cake and deliver it to the hall and we hired a DJ who coincidentally was very familiar with Wedgewood Hall.

For the meal, we opted for the Chicken Kiev. This is a simplistic dish that has a nice impact. The Chicken Kiev was great. It was highly recommended by Grant Odishaw and I am now highly recommending it to you. The remainder of the meal was also prepared to perfection, from the appetiser through to the dessert.

If you are looking for a catering service be sure to check out what Wedgewood Hall has to offer.

Pros: If I must name one, its the sweet potato fries.
Cons: Everything but the sweet potato fries.

After hearing the hype and all the talk about this place I was greatly disappointed with the food and the service.

I tried the buffalo burger with sweet potato fries on the side. The burger was bland and substandard. Before you say, well buffalo is tasteless meat anyways, let me assure you that when cooked properly with the right spices it can make an excellent burger. Ketchup, hot sauce, and garlic sauce could not revive this tasteless burger. It was a challenge just to try and swallow it. The sweet potato fries were good and it was the first time I had ever tired them. I would order those fries again... perhaps at another restaurant!

On the evening of my visit the restaurant was very busy. The tables are packed in very closely leaving little room to breath. This combined with alcohol makes for a loud and obnoxious crowd. The atmosphere was definitely less than pleasant. The service was severely lacking. It was painfully slow to get seated, followed by a length wait to have our orders taken, followed by yet another long wait to actually receive the food. I still wonder why I waited almost 45 minutes to be seated because during that time there was always seating available... but no one cleaned off the tables. Finally, after being seated our order was taken relatively quickly (compared with the wait time to be seated). The wait time for the food was a bit long but nothing to complain about.

After we were served we did not see the waitress again. When we needed something we had to pull the waitress over which was not an easy task because they were pre occupied with other tables. Even after we were done I was wondering if the meal was free because the waitress did not seem to concerned about brining the check over!

Pros: None
Cons: The food uality is lacking

One evening for supper a few friends and I visited Lone Stars. We arrived around 6ish and the place was basically empty. In Moncton an empty restaurant typically means its not going to be good. Indeed that was the case. I ordered the fish and chips. It came in a basket with fries under the fish. The fries where a bit on the limp side and the fish was bland. This is possibly one of the worst fish and chips in Moncton. If I were to go back to this place I would order something from the TexMex part of the menu. Hopefully they do something well.

Pros: One word, Value!
Cons: Perhaps someone should tell them about a little thing called the thermostat

Doc Dylan’s is one of my favorite pubs to visit. I enjoy the food and the atmosphere.... not sure why... I just do...

On this particular visit I attended Doc’s with a group of friends. We asked to be seated in the top portion of the restaurant. There are typically fewer people up there. The sign posted said the upper level was closed but our server told s to go ahead and move up stairs.

Doc’s is always a bit dark and tends to have poor temperature control. They are always cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I guess its and older building with poor insulation and lots of drafts. At times Doc’s can be quite unpleasant temperature wise. On this visit the place was on the a bit on the cold side but after a beer and a plate of hot food it was fine. The other negative about Doc’s is that it is not a very clean pub. Everything always seems a bit dirty and greasy.

On some evenings Doc’s can be very busy but on this night there were very few people around. This provided a quite relaxed environment that our group enjoyed as we chatted for several hours.

As per usual the service at was a bit slow. Everything seems to take longer here, except for the beer. Beer orders a promptly taken and served! The food orders are slow to be taken and slow to be served. Because I have come to expect this from Doc’ Dylan’s it does not bother me much at all. On the flip side the servers at Doc’s are typically very pleasant and personable. When orders are extremely slow you can expect a free beer. After you are served they always check back several times to make sure you are happy with your order.

In the on going effort to find the best fish and chips in Moncton I ordered up just that. The order size for price is typical of any pub in Moncton. One thing I really like about this place is the fact that they use large thick steak cut fries. Many people are of a different opinion but I love these fries. Especially here because they always come piping hot with a very crisp out side and a tender inside. Sprinkle with salt and dip in ketchup and enjoy. The fish here at Doc’s is not too bad. It was a bit on the dry side. I was not convinced that it was haddock but it was still good. I suspect the fish was not old but rather over cooked.

After some time passed I decided it was time to order some lemon pepper wings. These came back relatively quickly for this place. I had asked to make sure my wings had lots of lemon spice but I was disappointed to find that they were very much lacking spice when I received the order. I tried them only to be further disappointed by the fact that they were a bit dry, or over cooked. Regardless, I had wings, now all I needed was spice. I asked the server for more spice and he immediately returned with Dixie cup full of spice. I dumped the whole thing over my wings and took a bite. The wings were now perfect. Just enough lemon to make the average person cry!

The prices one the menu provide really good value. Two people can easily stop in and eat for $30 including beer! SR
